I believe that we are all born actors. As children, we use make-believe skills to step into different roles; we pretend and imagine. As we get older, many of us are socialized to stop using imaginative play as method of expression and healing.
My approach to drama therapy is to help folks reawaken the dramatic skills that exist within them. I do this in a fun and easy manner so that people can relearn how to engage in the play space. As a trained drama therapist, I guide this process in group sessions, for therapeutic benefit.
Drama therapy group participants have the opportunity to gain new skills, and build upon those that they already have, while enhancing their creativity, self-confidence, and their capacities for interpersonal expression and connection.
